FAM elections warms up!

The FIFA Interim Committee have opened the door for interested members to propose candidates for the posts of President and Executive Committee membership.

With just two weeks to go for the entry deadline of 16 July, two factions seem to be emerging to compete for the Presidency. One is headed by New Radiant Chairman Ali Azim and the other a surprising associate of the club, the previously deposed, but widely respected ex. National Captain and Cup winning coach for New Radiant, Mohamed Kaleem.

Behind Azim stands Hiyalee, a rather tarnished but vibrant CEO. Behind Kaleem is the equally famous Mattey. Mattey is said by some to have back paddled from contesting the FAM Presidency, making way for Kaleem to emerge the front runner.

Most of the other first division clubs seem content with a seat on the executive committee.

Both parties contesting the leadership of the FAM are equally backed with the best playing and management experience this country can offer. This definitely is the upside.

There however is the downside. That is the issue of voter eligibility. The FIFA Interim Committee claims that the 5 year uninturrupted participation clause excluding the two third majority of upto 60 football playing island based clubs was a condition specified by the FIFA. This appears strange as the FIFA have claimed in their 2006 Big Count that they could statistically verify sixty (60) associated football clubs in the Maldives.

The FIFA Interim Committee makes the preposterous claim that ONLY Eleven (11) clubs are entitled to vote to elect the President and executive committee of the FAM. The FAM is a over 90 member strong association with upto 80 member clubs participating in FAM organised competitions annually, throught this island nation. Someone, somewhere needs some serious answers ready for the island based majority clubs who are being taken for a free ride in this FAM's historical first election.

We will have to wait and see how this landmark election takes shape!

Why didnt you highlight the real point? you may have missed it but let me clear it out. Azim one of the puppet from the Dictator is running the show. Once the interim committee formed he made a deal with Shah who happened to be the (power hunger boy) general secretary of Interim committee. The deal is, if he can minimise the voters it will be easy to compete and buyout the small club for Azim. for this Azim assured him the general secretary of FAM for the next fout years. This is how it went and this is the game they are playing. But to be honest with you, we will never keep quite like the way BAA Atoll people kept for the last 10 year. We will raise our voice and we will challenge with him, doesnt matter what the cost is. We will try to convience the clubs the stretegy doesnt work we will even pay more than him. Thasmeen, you just be on your side, we never said anything when you paid to buy your vote to be an MP. But Football is our and we will never leave it to a dctators cronie.
See you

We have to look into a credible person for the post, Azim / Kaleem both come from NRSC? who is credible?

it seems both these men have a soccer background. however i feel that a federation needs to be headed by a skilled person. i feel that mohamed kaleem has proved to be a very successful manager for his private business, now he has to challenge azim who has not really succeeded in business. as for training and exposure kaleem seems to be a better choice. as far as credibility would take kaleem over azim anytime. what we have to decide is not to sell ourselves in greed of power and money but to make our children have a better soccer future if they happen to be interested in. you might think this is just FAM so why bother so much at this level. well, i'm not a die hard fan of soccer but was touched by the support following SAFF championship nation wide. so please do not take the post cos you want to empower but take it cos you want to serve for a better future. i wish kaleem and azim luck in the race for the top.

We all have to compare these two (Sonee and Fori) before anyone decide to vote. Firstly FORi is a puppet of DRP, whereas SONEE still has taken no side. Kaleem is vell qualified and respected by the football fans whereas FORI is just a Dictator' ass. Even the players of New Radiant hates him. He has no respect for others. Only knows to make bodugulha out of every thing. If u all guys wants something good from FAM dont vote for FORI. "RAVENS"

Kaleem will have a tough time fighting Azim. It has nothing to do with football. Thasmeen needs azim to be there so he can have full control over football. Thasmeen thinks he can gain some votes in parliament for him and his divided DRP faction (its power hungry people like you who breaks political parties). Dont bet football will guarantee you parliament votes. In reality its Thasmeen and his gang members who will give the final orders to FAM if Azim is elected. As usual bribes, deception, threats is Thasmeens strategy. Thasmeens only use of FAM would be to prepare for next years Parliamentary election. Forget football.

Yaameen sent his puppet Maateey to win the seat. When he found maatey was no competition, now They have teamed up with Kaleem and Maatey gave up the chairman post. You can see that in the news as i told you. VB Shaveed is paying out huge sums of money for this. I know the whole Yameen gang behind this. Want to know more? Kaleem and Azim are both from the biggest club in the country. May the best man win

Some people are trying to make a political mess out of this election. Azim and Kaleem have both provided immensely to the football of Maldives. Who ever wins it will be for the good of the football. So those who are trying to make this a political race forget it. you tried it in SAFF Championship too but failed.

First of all Thasmeen and Yaameen they are the same. we are not fools.

Yaameen is fully behind Hiyalee who is a vey active member of PA whereas Mattey is not, Valencia wants Azim to be chairman and Hiyalee to be vice chairman. Hiyalee (sto thief) and azim (gang leader and puppet of thasmeen). jabir who is the owner of valencia has no choice but push for this becuase hiyalee and thasmeen is in. Yaameen has no option but to support jabir. Because neither yaameen or jabir wants to dissapoint thasmeen. Thasmeen is Yaameens only current contact in DRP.

Infact you will hear from news very soon of azim and Hiyalee dictatorship plan. As for Shaveed VB has already won FA cup, they have very good players and are already a serious and respected club, he has so far suceeded. Now the question is if shaveed wants a better future for his club VB and football. would he prefer azim or kaleem. One is dictator styled thug the other is a respected football player with no political connections. Yes Shaveed would have tough time choosing if it was Kaleem vs Kuda Moosa vs Addo vs Shaahir vs Mattey. I wouldnt mind any of them coming but please not DRP thasneem or PA Lolly yameen.
